It only makes sense that the God who created us and loves us very much would want to stay in touch with us. He has a lot to tell us! But to get to the point of believing that there is a God, and trusting Him, we need to have a foundation.

The very first step in learning about God is understanding how He communicates. How does the Creator of the universe impart knowledge, history, a description of Himself, and even what is coming in the future, to us little, seemingly insignificant humans? How can my weak, tired brain understand God?

The Bible, the most published book on the planet, makes some outrageous claims concerning its role in showing us who God is; claims that many people have a tough time accepting. Please locate these verses and write down what the Bible is saying to you:

‣ What did Jesus call the sacred writings? (Matthew 21:42)

________________________________________________________________

‣ There's another description also given to them... (Luke 8:21)

________________________________________________________________

‣ How were they given to humans? (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

________________________________________________________________

‣ Notice the source of the writings... (Hebrews 1:1)

Strong claims! The Bible, which has stood the test of time for many centuries, is either telling the truth about its origin... or it's not.

If it is truth, we will learn about God and what He has in store for us!

If it is a big lie (the Bible cannot be a 'little' lie or even a 'good book'... its claim to be from God is much too outrageous to skirt around), then we need to discard it as the planet's biggest sham.

If you take the step of faith and accept the Bible as God's Word recorded for our benefit, then we are in for a great adventure as we discover our history, purpose and future... as revealed to us!

Let's learn more...

‣ Discover the purpose of the Scriptures... (Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; Psalms 119:105)

The Bible didn't come about so we could have a book to just add to the library shelf or sit on the coffee table. No way. It tells us about God, who we are, where we came from, why there is such pain and heartache on Earth, what God did about that and what we have waiting for us in the very near future. Want to know about sin, death, happiness, joy, guilt, forgiveness, love, hate and what we have to look forward to?

The next lessons will start the journey! We'll learn the techniques to dig deep in God's Word and find the gems that bring us to a fantastic appreciation of our loving Creator.
